Love Token Four Hearts Encircled
American,
1842
Blue ink on Paper.
This love token with the name May E. Lyon across the top is dated February 19, 1842. There are four hearts encircled with points touching and within each heart is a name (Ann Marie Carpenter, Daniel Douglas Carpenter, Almeda Assneth Carpenter and John Carpenter).
Across the top of the circle is inscribed, "Keep thy heart with All Diligence" and across the bottom "For out of it are the issues of Life".
This love token is framed in a period 19th century painted (old red) frame.
The condition is good with some staining.
5 3/8" wide x 6 7/8" high (sight). 9 1/4" wide x 10 7/8" high (framed).

Love Token With Hair & Watercolor Decoration

Very nice individual love token and friendship memento of four locks of hair with names. Each one is enhanced with a water colored heart or diamond shape. Two are locks of hair and two are woven locks of hair. The love token is framed in a 19th century lemon gold frame.

This single love token of woven hair and applied water colored diamond shapes includes the name in blue script. It is framed in a 19th century lemon gold frame.

This is an original prototype done in watercolor for a greeting card whereby the image would "pop up" when opened. It is titled "A Country Belle".
Good condition and framed in a deep blue period frame.

Love Token Cobweb

Silk needlework and paper.
This is quite a wonderful and very unusual cobweb love token having the silkwork on paper of forget-me-not and fushia flowers. The cobweb is quite naïve. It is dated 1841 on the green background paper.
Refer to the book titled, A History of Valentines by Ruth Webb Lee page number 129. These love token valentines are considered to be rare.
This love token is framed in a shadowbox lined with antique paper and a 19th century lemon gold frame.
Very good condition.
8 1/4" wide x 6" high with a depth of 3 1/2" (framed).
